Reflection
- How did this story qualify as an epic (think about the qualities of an epic)
- Our story qualifies as an epic because we have adventure, drama, death, and exploring.
2. Both of the stories have similarities like fighting Greek mythological creatures and exploring distant unknown lands.
1. Please describe the epic hero you created
2. My epic hero was a god, the son of Apollo and Hecates. He is the god of Music and has a magic Axe Lute.
- What ancient Greek value did he/she embody, and how did this show in your book?
- LOYALTY-Because through out the whole book I was being loyal to my comrades and keeping them safe, as best as I could.
- Please describe your individual & group process in creating the epic
- In this group we each picked a book to make and then wrote it based off of one goal.
- What do you believe was the purpose of this project?
- Was to write our own story and be able to be creative.
The Immortal Friendship

The Epic Battle in the Modern 21st Century Store
Rain. Beautiful blissful rain. Stitches, the daughter of Sin, Skye, the daughter of Aphrodite, Jordyseus, the son of Kevinitus, and Jordyseus’s father Kevinitus, the son of Breus. All four of them were traveling through a pouring rain storm in Nocor looking for shelter with all the rain. They must have walked over 100 miles looking for shelter, when suddenly they find a strange wall. It seems to go on about 20 feet, then it turned. They turned and the wall seemed to keep going. They find another strange corner, and they turn it. “What is this! this must be a joke!” Said Kevinitus. “Let us back up and look at it from a view!” Said Jordyseus. “What is this nonsense?” Skye asked. The building said “Wal-Martius” On top written in white letters with a blue background. “I dont know what it is. I can’t believe I am saying this, but we must go inside this... “Wal-Martius.” All four of them slowly went into the building. They went inside the building and stood inside and suspiciously looked around. Then there was sudden movement behind a counter! “Who dares enter the presence of us four?!” Screamed Stitches. “Um... Im a cashier at Wal-Martius, can I help you with anything?”
“No sir. I guess we will just... look around...” Said Stitches.
“Alright then, have a nice day!” Said the cashier with an odd grin on his face. “Come, everyone, let us search this... Wal-Martius.” Said Jordyseus. All four of them lurked through all the isles looking to see what they could find. “What kind of place is this? What kind of place sells peaches in a jar?!” Questioned Skye. “I think we need to get out of here.” Said Kevinitus. And in the background Skye said in the distance “WAIT! I need marshmallows!” After looking around for a couple hours they all agreed to leave the place. But unexpectedly, they all walked out without paying! “WAIT A MINUTE!” Screamed the cashier. “You try to steal product from this store? I dont think so!” The cashier pulled out a giant sabre out of nowhere and said charges at all four of the gods. “My cashier fellows, attack the thief's!” Then, about 12 cashiers jumped out of random doors on the walls and all start running at the gods! “We are the cashier guardians and we are stronger than all of you!” Said the cashier. “Quick, run! There are to many!” They all run in separate directions fighting off their own small group of Wal-Martius cashiers. Stitches pulled out a guitar sword and starts playing really loud and the loudness of the guitar deafens the group of cashiers she fought, but unfortunately more cashiers come and started to beat her. Skye uses her mind powers on the group she is fighting and they all just drop dead, but then more come and start hitting her. Kevinitus was running away from all of the cashiers and Jordyseus was being attacked by them and as hes running away he see’s that Kevinitus is being punched and kicked on the ground by the cashiers, when Jordyseus runs upon a huge random hole in the ground in the ground with spikes at the very bottom. He stands there watching Skye, Stitches, and Kevinitus being beat by the cashiers when, one comes up to Jordyseus and says “You should have paid for you canned peaches, Jordyseus.” Said the cashier with suspense. “I have no money on me.” Said Jordyseus.
“You have no money!? This is madness!” Said the cashier.
“This isn't madness! THIS IS.... MY RUBBER DUCKY!” Luckily Jordyseus’s highest skill that he possesses is throwing rubber ducks so hard, that he can penetrate skin by throwing one at about 600 miles per hour. Then the cashier fell into the hole and then Jordyseus takes his rubber ducks and pelted them at all the cashiers that are beating up his god friends and kills them all! “Good job son! You have done well!” Said Kevinitus. “Thank you father. We shall always stay together in our journeys. Now off ward we shall go, out of Wal-Martius!” Said Jordyseus. So, after a really epic battle in Wal-Martius, they all headed out of the store and continued on with their journey.

The Pathway to Hell
After Scarlet, Skye, Jordyseus and Kevinitus left Wal-Martius and battling the cashiers with rubber duckies, they started their way to the underworld to visit Scarlet’s father Hades. Walking frightfully through the six pathways of Hades, where there is no savior but yourself. They walked into her father’s paths with the risks of their own lives. While walking through path one, Scarlet lets her father know that they are on their way to see him. Her father quietly whispers to her, “There’s a secret pathway through the second path that no one knows about. You must trust yourselves and use knowledge to get through the first path. Once you reach the end, there will be three ways you can choose to walk. You must go to the third path on the right. When you reach the entrance to find a robber named Sinis, you must used the knowledge you have to escape his creepyly weird trap. Godd luck my daughter and friends.” “Alright friends! ” Said Scarlet, “Lets go.” While walking through, Jordysseus wasn’t paying attention. He’s snatched by Sinis and tied between two deathly palm trees. Before letting the trees go their seperate ways, Sinis hits him in the head with a stone to knock him out before tearing apart the rest of his body into pieces. t this point Jordyseuss is in need of help and healing. Skye steps in to saduce the mind of Sinis, and distract him while Scarlet and Kevinitus retrieved Jordyseuss. After they retrieve him, they finish their way to the end of their path. Scarlet calls out to her father, and asks what to do next. He replies by opening a door from the wall, that not even Sinis knew about. They walk through with Jordyseuss limped over Skye, and Kevinitus’ shoulder while Scarlet fallows the words of her father. When they get to Hades, they ask for help in getting Jordyseuss’s healthy again. “You must take him to the River Styx. Tie a rope around his waist tell him to think about one spot in his body. Leave him in there until he can’t hold his breath any longer. Once you take him out of the River he will be immortal. Except for that one part of his body. That will be his only weakness.” They listened to what Hades had to say before taking a rope and leading Jordyseus to the River Styx. They tied a rope around his waist and lowered him into the water. “Jordyseus..This of one spot on your body that is usual untouched by man kind.” Once he was in the water, they waited. Hoping that Jordyseus was doing exactly as they had said. For if he didn’t his soul would be lost and they would lose their friend. After a few minutes had passed they took Jordyseus out of the water, watching the steady rise and fall of his chest as he took a breath. “Jordyseus!” They all embraced their friend, a few happy tears sparkling in their eyes. They knew they were out of time so they skipped saying goodbye to Scarlet’s father and made their way out of the underworld.

Medusa’s Head
They all felt clammy after being cooped up in the underworld, but no matter the trials they went through it was worth it for two reasons. One: seeing Scarlet and her father, Hades, reunited and seeing his son Jordysseus alive and well again and now immortal with him, they can now live forever, but their mission was not yet done they then had to go to the distant land of Oceanidus and slay the mighty Medusa. They set sail one bright morning headed straight for Oceanidus when suddenly my ship was boarded by the Zenonians, reptile-like creatures who are commanded by the titans to rid this world of gods, and help bring chaos back with the Titans. They instantly initiated into combat with them, and even though they were out numbered 50 to 4 the monsters were the ones who were truly outnumbered because as soon as they attacked, Kevinitus played his mind control song and got half of them to kill each other right off the bat. Then Skye seduced another 10 or so and brought them into her deadly melee range and with the swoop of a weapon sliced them all to bits. The rest were simply dissolved into nothing by the combined force of Scarlette and Jordysseus. Once that was through they continued on our way, where they passed many islands and met many new people. Several months later once they came within 20 miles from the shore and could reach in a few hours they geared up and got ready for combat because they knew that fighting Medusa and all of her minions would not be a simple task. They finally reached land and got off the boat and were ready for just about anything... at least that they could have prepared for. Next thing they knew they were sinking into the sand, and there was nothing any god could have done about it. They were underground and couldn’t see anything, so Kevinitus played the song of light and at once they could see, although they wished they couldn’t have because of the gruesome sights. They some how weakened the group so they were no stronger than any normal mortal. As they started walking through they came across a giant hallway and looked around until they saw an empty throne but still no sign of Medusa. So they started walking towards the throne and about halfway down the hall they were suddenly surrounded by minions, so right away instincts told Kevinitus to turn them all against each other or command them to come near him so he could easily decapitate them, but he realised it was very difficult and could only do it to two of them at once which might have seemed good but there were about one hundred of them and they kept coming. So sadly they had to fight for their lives which was quite difficult now that they could die. First, came the first wave of reptilian creatures which they could manage since there were only 20 or so, once they were down the next wave came and this was harder on the account of all of them being winded for the first time in their lives. When they had almost finished the second wave a spear came from the crowd and went straight through Kevinitus’ arm, causing him to hurt and bleed for the first time. Now enraged Kevinitus took his mighty Axe-Lute and through it using all of his remaining strength and swung it around and killed 30 or more enemies. When his anger had passed he fell to the ground and blacked out. When he woke up all he saw was a wall of dead bodies of their enemies and his allies bloody and broken standing on top it. At that moment Medusa finally came out from hiding and challenged them to fight and they did. They new they had to fight without looking or they would become to stone, this was hard, so Jordysseus blindly through his spear in her direction and it nicked her shoulder, this just made her more angry. Kevinitus knew that he had to play a song to calm her so that they could slay her. He began playing and she slowly became calm and fell asleep. Skye ran up jumped high into the hair and came down and decapitated her. Now they had to find a way out, after wrapping her head in part of Skye’s cloak. They made their way back to where they had fallen into the pit, looking up to see if there was a way out. A rope dangled just in reach of them. One by one they took hold of the rope and climbed up, gasping in fresh air. Feeling the flow of immortal energy flow into them. They boarded their ship and fastened Medusa’s head to the bow of the ship.

A Monster Infested Land
Medusa's head had been hung upon the bow of the ship, striking fear into the hearts of anyone that looked into her eyes. Instantly turning all into stone, making them sink into to the bottom of the dark frothy sea. Skye and her crew had just left the shores of Oceanidus and were on their way to uncharted waters where it is rumored that the perils there are unlike any man has ever laid eyes upon. Skye stood upon the bow of the ship, just above the swinging head of the horrible Medusa. “Onward! Toward the uncharted waters! Don't be afraid, my friends for whatever awaits us we shall overcome with our mighty swords.” Shadows loomed on the horizon, leaving a foreboding feeling amongst the crew members. “Kevinitus play a tune for us and rid the fear that may be lingering in our hearts. Scarlet...Keep a look out for anything strange moving in the water. And Jordyseus if you could make sure the ship is ready in case we are stranded anywhere.” Skye drew her sword from its sheath and held it tightly, keeping a firm look out on the horizon. As they neared the looming clouds all fell silent. All they could hear was the sweet tune that Kevinitus was playing. It was a pleasant tune, one that would draw a smile to any mortal's lips if they were to hear it. A screech pierced their ears, the monster that made the sound was no where insight, leaving Skye with the thirst for blood. Once they were entirely surrounded by clouds and shrouded in darkness something moved in the water in front of their path. “Stop the ship!” Skye cried out, at once looking towards where the movement had been seen. It seemed as if they had been waiting ages, staring at the spot that once held movement and life. After a few moments a large head appeared out of the water. A Ketos Troias had appeared in front of them, rearing its ugly head near the ship. At once all had fell silent, Kevinitus even stopped playing music for the beast in front of them was unlike any other. There had only been one other long ago that had be sent to plauge the lands of Troy. “Men do not be afraid. For this monster has been slain once before and it shall be slain once again.” Skye climbed to the top of the mast, having an idea that would take a bit of teamwork. “I am going to jump upon the beast’s head. I need all of you to some how get a hold of the beast and make sure that it does not struggle, for I will be thrown into the unknown waters.” Once they had all nodded in agreement and gathered ropes their plan was set into action. Scarlet and Kevinitus threw ropes around the terrible sea serpent’s head and pulled them taut so that Ketos Troias could not struggle. Jordyseus threw a rope around its body and held it tight. Once the ropes were secured Skye jumped from her position on the mast onto the serpent’s head, where as soon as she landed she drove her sword through the top of the monster’s skull. Piercing it, the tip of her blade stuck out of the soft underside of the Ketos' chin. It roared, flailing its self around. A scream escaped Skye's throat, she clutched the hilt of her sword and tried to make sure her bones didn't break. “Pull the ropes tighter!” She screamed again, the Ketos' causing the blade to start to grind a hole into it's skull. “Kevinitus, calm the beast down!” Once Kevinitus began to play his tune the Ketos started to calm down. After that a plan popped in Skye's mind. “Tie the ropes to the mast of the ship! Takes your bows and fire arrows directly into the serpents eyes. Blind him and then aim for his jugular!” Arrows soared through the air, piercing through the eyes of the Ketos Troias. Thankfully Kevinitus' played his calming song while Scarlet and Jordyseus fired more arrows to the beasts jugular. Skye climbed her way down the back of the Ketos and made her way so that she was in perfect position to stab her mighty sword through its neck. After many arrows had pierced it's tough hide, the blade of Skye's sword sliced through its neck like a hot knife through butter. The mighty beast roared, flailing around, not even Kevinitus could stop it from thrashing. Skye had a split second to make a decision before she jumped from the beast and onto the ships deck, audible cracks were heard. She lay limp, curled up in a small ball. After a few moments she sat up, rolling her neck which caused another string of audible cracks. Scarlet, Jordyseus, and Kevinitus faced lit up triumphantly, the four of them embracing in a quick celebratory hug. They had conquered the Ketos Troias, a seemingly impossible monster to defeat. And they had done it together using teamwork and hardwork. “My fellow crew members. I have to truly thank you for without your help there would have been no tomorrow for me if I had come face to face with this horrid monster on my own. Now we must sail onward before we have to face yet another beast.” At those words the crew members took up their positions, Kevinitus once again picking up his instrument and playing a sweet tune to guide them through the dark mists of this unknown land. A larger and darker shape revealed itself after a few hours of sailing straight on. “Look! To the north! A land mass! We will dock there, and tonight we will make a sacrifice for our parents. For without them we would not have stood a chance against that serpent.” Skye went to work, helping to bring the ship to the shore. Once they had docked they realized that his land was much like the surrounding area. Dark and full of shadows. Unknown possibilities lurking around every corner, leaving you with a strange feeling. A feeling that if at any moment you are to be jumped upon by another horror. “Fear not, for we have been sent here for a reason. Perhaps there is a chance that we may bring light to this forgotten land.” Of course to this statement Stitches disagreed promptly, but Skye shrugged if off as if the comments were nothing. They after all were best friends and sometimes you have to agree to disagree. Jordyseus grabbed a torch from the boat and lit it, leading the way through the misty shroud covering the land that seemed to be an island. After a while another figured loomed in the distance. Soon they approached the being and came to find it was a Sphinx. Scarlet, Kevinitus and Jordyseus all stepped back, allowing Skye to step forward in order to receive her riddle. “Dear Sphinx what are you doing so far away from your home at Thebes?” The Sphinx gave her a strange look before stating simply. “This is where I have chosen to be for the time being. I had a feeling that some lonely travelers were going to be descending upon this plane and I thought correctly. Now, if you can answer my riddle I shall let you and your friends pass free. If not I shall tie you up and eat them slowly one by one so you may watch them scream and suffer. Than I shall devour you slowly last. Starting with your fingers and toes, making my way to your arms and legs before slowly eating your torso and leaving your head for last.” Audible gasps came from her crew behind her, ringing in her ears, knowing how terrified they seemed at the Sphinx. But, if they had truly known her well they would have known that Skye is very good at riddles and tricks so this shan’t be to hard for her. “What goes on four legs in the morning, on two legs at noon, and on three legs in the evening?” The Sphinx questioned Skye, a smile upon its lips. Skye furrowed her brow in thought a pondered, mulling over a few ideas before coming to a conclusion. She turned to her friends first, “Fear not. For I have figured out the answer to the Sphinx's riddle. I will soon have you all to where you need to be,” At that she turned back to the Sphinx, a smile upon her own lips. “A man, who crawls on all fours as a baby, walks on two legs as an adult, and walks with a cane in old age.” The Sphinx expression turned to one of shock and utter horror. “You are the only mortal besides Oedipus to answer my riddle correctly.” Her wings stretched out, hinting that she was going to leave the travelers there. “That is where you are wrong my friend. For I am no mortal. I am daughter of Aphrodite, the Goddess of love, beauty and fertility. My father is Ares, the God of war. I am no mere mortal such as the Oedipus that you speak of. Now be on your way and leave me and my friends to our travels.” After that the Sphinx beat its wings and flew off, headed in the direction of Thebes. The rest of her crew pat her on the back, relieved sighs escaping their lips one by one. In this land the sun never seemed to shine, casting the island into eternal darkness. Kevinitus and Jordyseus fetched cattle and sheep from the ship while Scarlet and Skye set up a camp on shore for them to sleep that night. Once Kevinitus and Jordyseus had brought back the cattle and sheep, they skinned them and cut off the thigh bones. Burning them as an offering for their parents. Skye opened her mouth in a sort of prayer. “Hyperion, the mighty God of the Sun. Why is it that you do not shine upon this place? Has it done something to disgrace thee? Won't you shine your glorious rays upon the likes of this island? Conquering all evil that once lingered here. If you do not wish to shine a full day upon this forsaken place then at least shine for a few moments. Cast hope upon this island so that we shall stay here forever away from the shadowing mists and darkness and leave us with some light. Selene the goddess of the moon. I offer this food to you in hopes that you will shine some of your beautiful light upon this forgotten land. Cast away the evil shadows to bring in the good, yet leave the ominous presence of the place.” The moon arose from the horizon, casting a dim glow upon the island. They blinked a few times, looking around the place that had been shrouded in darkness only moments before. A Nemean Lion lurking just beyond the glow of the fire. It pounced into the light, jumping upon Scarlet, trying to shred threw her immortal skin. It had all happened so quickly that they had no idea how to react. Jordyseaus picked up a rock and hurled it at the beast, hitting its shoulder blade. “It is a Neamean Lion! The only way to defeat it would be to render it unconscious and cut its hide with its own claw!” Kevinitus picked up a rock and lunged at the lion, smashing its head with the rock. It fell limp next to the fire, its breath becoming shallow. Skye ran over, drawing an ivory dagger from the waist of her belt and took it to the lion’s paw. She carefully cut off its claw, a smirk pulling its way onto her lips. She drove its claw in between its rib, cutting down and severing its lungs and heart. A cynical laughed came from her diaphragm as she pulled out the claw, wiping the blood off with a cloth. She put the claw in her sack to keep it as a souvenir. “Scarlet, are you alright?” Skye asked, checking to see if the lion had broken through her skin anywhere. Making sure that there was nothing wrong they finished skinning the lion and cut it up to roast it over the fire and provide them with a large feasts. “My friends...Now that our journey has come to an end I am proud to say that I consider all of you amongst my closest friends. You were there for me when otherwise I would have been lost. Now tomorrow we shall set sail and head back to our home in Mount Olympus.” The fire crackled behind them as they all embraced in a hug. Although this current journey was over their journey of friendship was no where near its end. The four of them continued to have marvelous adventures throughout their lives.
