Race Time Essential Questions
What is acceleration and velocity?
Acceleration is velocity over time or a rate of change. And velocity is the rate of change of your position, which is basically how fast you are moving. So acceleration is only active when something is changing to a higher rate of speed, it is 0 when something is not moving or moving at a constant rate.
How are acceleration and velocity present in your everyday life?
When I'm riding the sprinter in the mornings and afternoons, it accelerated to go and then decelerates to stop. Although when the sprinter is stopped or moving at a constant speed it’s acceleration is 0. The velocity of the sprinter is just based off of how fast it is traveling along the track, the only time velocity is at 0 is when it is completely stopped.
In what way is friction applicable in your everyday life?
Friction is always present in my daily life no matter what I'm doing, whether it’s walking, jogging, riding a bike, driving a car, and sliding my seat around. Friction is basically the force that is pushing against a movement in a certain direction.
